Vocational Training Charitable Trust (VTCT) Grant Awarded to Support Hair and Beauty Learners at Preston College

In recognition of the support delivered to our hair and beauty learners at Preston College, we are delighted to announce a £5,000 grant and bursary payment has been awarded by the Vocational Training Charitable Trust (VTCT) to the Hair and Beauty team. The bursary will benefit our hair and beauty learners who come from deprived backgrounds and may not be able to fund enrichment trips, additional training opportunities or afford additional equipment required as part of their studies.

The last couple of years have been extremely challenging for many people, with the Covid pandemic, to people being furloughed and service industries struggling to survive, followed by the current cost of living crisis, it has become increasingly difficult for learners to juggle the needs of everyday living with the additional costs of education.

Fiona Birtchet-Sharpe, Head of School Service Industries said, “We are so pleased to have secured this bursary from the VTCT and we are so grateful for its support and recognition of our efforts. The grant will provide additional master classes, specialist training sessions and enrichment visits to further enhance the learning experience and develop the practical skills of our most disadvantaged learners.”

VTCT said, “Through all of the hardships, Preston College has remained dedicated to providing learners with a direct line of sight into a job. We are grateful for the care shown to support its learning outcomes for those most disadvantaged, which fully reflects our charitable purpose.”

The hair and beauty team at Preston College will also be attending the inaugural VTCT Excellence Awards to be held in Milton Keynes College on Thursday 13th July 2023, which is a celebration of their 60th anniversary and institutions striving to mould the next generation of professionals.

Well done team Hair and Beauty!
