Dance is part of the UK’s thriving creative industry, worth £101.5bn a year to the UK economy. Employment in the creative industries includes advertising, arts, culture, craft, games, music, publishing, TV and film. Each year, over 9.3bn people watch musicals in London, with the Arts Council for England providing over £41.7m in funding for dance alone.
With the development of MediaCityUK in Salford and the Creative and Digital Quarter in Liverpool, there has been a significant increase in roles with the BBC, ITV and many other leading production companies now based in the region. The demand for professionals, including performers, has increased and continues to grow.
Despite being a highly competitive industry, there are wealth of opportunities outside of TV and film, including theatre, radio, advertising, corporate video production, tourism, aboard cruise ships and within tourism entertainment teams.
