The construction industry is essential for our local economy and has been identified as a priority sector for Lancashire. Currently there is a huge skills shortage in the industry, with construction being placed in the top five sectors requiring employees, due to sector growth, until 2028.
Over the past couple of years, we have seen a boom in construction applications at Preston College, with additional classes and female only multi skills courses added to meet both demand and customer feedback.
Our Level 1 courses are ideal for those looking to develop their DIY skills further or study the basics of a trade alongside a full-time job, as well as those looking to take their first steps into a complete career change. For professionals already working in the sector, we are able to offer an array of Level 2 Diplomas, Green Skills courses, along with NVQ pathways, ranging from Level 2 up to Level 7, HNCs, Higher Technical Qualifications (HTQs) and Institute of Technology courses.
Preston College offers a hybrid learning approach to enable learners to fit their studies around existing work and family commitments. This flexible approach includes weekly practical teaching sessions held in college, alongside online guided self-study, relating to the theoretical elements of the course.
