As a Fabrication and Welding Apprentice you will learn skills in operating specialist welding and fabrication techniques, how to use precision tools to complete the project as required

 

This is a great opportunity for a motivated and eager individual. The successful post holder will gain valuable experience in the steel industry and will work alongside our highly skilled Fabricator.  You will develop the skills required to read engineering drawings, operate a range of machinery and fabricate structures to a very high standard. You will join a structured Apprenticeship Programme, achieving an industry recognised qualification by completing an Engineering Operative L2 apprenticeship, specialising in fabrication and welding

DUTIES

The successful post holder will gain valuable experience in the steel industry and will work alongside our highly skilled Fabricators at our workshop You will develop the skills required to read engineering drawings, operate a range of machinery and fabricate structures to a very high. standard. You will join a structured Apprenticeship Programme, achieving an industry recognised qualification by completing an Engineering Operative L2 apprenticeship, specialising in fabrication and welding.

 

Daily duties would include:
• Fabricating from engineering drawings, sketches
• MIG/TIG/MMA  welding to standard Welding Procedure   Specifications
• Using hand grinding machinery
• Hole punching using hydraulic utility machine

• Fillet welds

• Mark out and tack welds into place
• Drilling using radial arm & pillar drilling machines

  • Selection of correct materials to be processed
  • Preparation and cutting of materials
  • Following engineering drawings
  • Fabrication tasks as reasonably directed
  • Using manual tools
  • Using precision measuring equipment
  • Applying health and safety practice with PPE at all times

WORKING HOURS PER WEEK

37 hour week – Monday to Friday 8/9am – 4/5pm (Times TBA),
