As part of an ongoing funding project from the Department for Education (DfE), Preston College has created a modern and flexible educational space within the Construction Skills Centre. This has been designed for both individual study and collaborative learning for our Higher Technical Qualification (HTQ) students.
The state-of-the-art learning space enhances both personal and professional development for students pursuing HTQs in Construction Management, Modern Methods of Construction, and Quantity Surveying. Key features include high-spec digital equipment, architectural seating, 3D modelling software, industry-leading virtual reality equipment and more.
Working with significant employer partners in developing this provision, such as The Eric Wright Group, PSA Associates and Frank Whittle Partnership, our ambition is to prepare our HTQ students with the skills demanded by an ever-evolving construction industry.
The newly refurbished learning space will focus on the following developmental themes for our HTQ curriculum delivery:
Mark Taylor, Head of School for Construction & the Built Environment, says, “This development, funded by the Department for Education, will enable Preston College to amplify the delivery of our new HTQs in Construction. This ensures that we are able to directly meet the needs of individual students and employers in a rapidly changing commercial environment. Employer input continues to be critical in relation to our curriculum development. With this investment, we are confident that our increasing number of HTQ students will progress effectively in the sector and make a positive contribution to the construction industry.”
