Maths + Me
Maths is an important life skill and crops up every day in bills, shopping, wages, homework, budgeting, banking and even cooking! At Preston College we understand that not everyone has had a positive relationship with maths – that’s why our team of friendly and supportive tutors have designed a range of FREE informal taster sessions to help you build your maths confidence.
Each session lasts for 90 minutes and will help you develop your maths skills through practical hands-on learning. Check out the sessions on offer below, you’ll find that each one offers you a way to learn how to use maths in a variety of ways. You can choose to study one, a mixture or all of them. Plus, you’ll receive a FREE maths kit and scientific calculator for registering, which you’ll get at your first session.

Making Money Work for You – Money Confidence

In this FREE taster session, we’ll explore how you can make your money work for you. Whether it is switching bank accounts, setting up saving goals or planning for retirement we’ll teach you the skills you need to feel confident when planning your finances.
Bills, Bills, Bills
Dates: Wednesday 13/06/2024 9:15am – 10:45am OR Thursday 13/06/2024 3pm – 4:30pm
Could you save money on your household bills? Bring them to this FREE taster session, where you will learn the skills to understand your bills and explore practical ways to cut costs and compare deals to find the right one for you.
Budgeting Basics – Budgeting Confidence
Dates: Wednesday 19/06/2024 9:15am – 10:45am OR Thursday 20/06/2024 3pm – 4:30pm

Helping with Homework – Homework Confidence
Dates: Wednesday 26/06/2024 9:15am – 10:45am OR Thursday 27/06/2024 3pm – 4:30pm
In school, children are taught maths in a different way and uses new methods to help them master maths. Get to grips with the new methods in this FREE taster session, learning tips and techniques to help your child and make maths homework a positive experience for the both of you.
Everyday Maths – Everyday Confidence
Dates: Wednesday 03/07/2024 9:15am – 10:45am OR Thursday 04/07/2024 3pm – 4:30pm
In this FREE taster session, we’ll explore how you can use maths in your daily life. From the supermarket, to helped your kids with their homework, or just getting to grips with the basics.
