Preston College has industry-leading facilities and we try to recreate real work environments to ensure your experience mirrors the expectations of employers.
Our state-of-the-art iSTEM Centre offers a dynamic learning environment including an advanced manufacturing workshop, multi-functional science laboratories and 3D printing designed to help learners formulate ideas, test briefs and present their findings.
Our extensive employer partnerships allow learners to work on live briefs set by real businesses, bringing their learning to life.
Our purpose built construction learning facility offers a real work environment to explore the wide range of roles and respective skills required for a successful career in the sector.
As a priority sector for Lancashire, construction skills are in demand and we’ve created a learning environment that allows students to try different disciplines including bricklaying, joinery and painting & decorating. The specialist workstations reflect a real working environment including wearing PPE, undergoing safety inspections and visiting live construction sites.
Designed and run in partnership with leading property and construction business, Eric Wright Group, EWLF offers a professional pathway to your chosen career.
Our Digital and Creative industries building houses dedicated studios for dance, drama and music allowing you to express yourself and enhance your performance skills in industry standard surroundings.
We have a range of recording suites so you can experiment with voiceovers, audio books, voicing animation and video games. The TV studio is equipped with a viewing gallery which live streams the footage from the studio.
Our learners rehearse and perform regularly in our 100 seater theatre and there are opportunities to perform in professional venues across the region, with our learners most recently completing Sister Act in a local church.
The Learning Zone runs over two floors and offers space to work, quality resources and support for learning outside the classroom.
In the library, books and other resources are in subject areas throughout the upper floor. Our self-issue kiosks enable you to borrow and return your books and you can access our online resources including eBooks and e-journals 24/7.
We have a range of study areas to suit your needs and the lower floor has over 90 PCs available for drop-in or to reserve.
Our adult learners can study and socialise in a dedicated space, located within the library. As well as seating, you can access quick response computers for study.
As a higher education learner, you’ll have access to our dedicated University Centre that houses our higher education classrooms and Learning Zone. There are a range of learners studying university courses at Preston College, from those progressing from a Level 3 course to mature students working or juggling family commitments. In the University Centre you can mix with other learners or find a quiet place to work and study.
