What is the Modular Acceleration Programme?

Preston college is proud to be an official provider of the Modular Acceleration Programme (MAP) – a transformative, flexible and targeted learning opportunity funded by the Department of Education.

The Modular Acceleration Programme (MAP) is a new two-year government pilot, providing free tuition fees for learners looking to study specific modules from our High Technical Qualifications (HTQs) in construction and engineering.

Benefits of the Modular Acceleration Programme include:

  • Free tuition fees, with nothing for you to pay – tuition fees will be paid for by a grant given directly to Preston College
  • The opportunity to complete a HTQ module fully funded, without committing to a full qualification
  • The ability to build credits towards a full HTQ
  • The opportunity to gain new qualifications and skills to support a chosen career path
  • Flexible delivery – shorter, more flexible courses to fit around existing work, childcare or caring responsibilities

MAP modules are derived from full HTQs which align with the knowledge, skills and behaviours required for specific job roles according to the relevant Occupational Standards. They are also recognised as an Institute of Technology (IoT) course, with a particular emphasis on enhancing digital literacy within the construction sector.

Who is the Modular Acceleration Programme for?

The MAP is designed for individuals looking to retrain in a new career or upskill to enhance existing career prospects, and who meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • Aged between 19 and 60
  • Live in England
  • Live outside of England but work in England

Please note: Further eligibility criteria may apply, depending on individual circumstances.

What courses are available?

At Preston College, our MAP modules are essentially short courses that are designed to provide higher technical education for the construction or engineering sectors:

How long does a MAP module take to complete?

Each MAP module will take 12 weeks to complete, and combines guided learning with independent study.

How do I apply?

You can apply by completing our online application form here.

We will assess your application on an individual basis to ensure this course is the right fit for you.
