This Level 2 qualification is ideal for people looking to work with children between birth and up to 7 years. You will gain knowledge about early years development and an understanding about the requirements of working in the industry. This qualification also meets the Department for Education’s (DfE) criteria for a Level 2 Early Years Practitioner in the workforce.

We have fantastic facilities and resources at the College which will bring your learning to life, including an outdoor area. These areas will develop your skills and give you confidence at your work placement setting.

All theory units will be internally assessed using a range of methods including:

Practical Assessments & Tasks
Skills based outcomes must be achieved as part of your work placement. You will be observed by our work place assessor in a nursery or school setting.
WHAT CAN I DO NEXT?
This qualification allows a learner to count towards the Level 2 ratio as a qualified Level 2 Early Years Practitioner across the Early Years Workforce. Learners may work under supervision in a variety of roles such as:
nursery practitioner
classroom assistant
pre-school practitioner.
You may have the opportunity to progress to our T-Level in Education and Childcare, dependent upon GCSE grades and performance on this programme.

You will require a DBS Check to be able to complete your work placement. The application for this needs to be made before you start your course. For more information please see our DBS Instructions for Students page.
You will be required to wear a College polo-shirt and hoodie at your placement. This will be provided for you at the start of the programme.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
You will need four GCSEs at grade 3 (D) or above including at least one of English Language or Maths. The other subject should have a minimum grade 2. You will also be required to attend an interview to discuss your suitability for the course.
Additional Entry Criteria
In order to work with children you will need a full DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check. You will apply for your DBS check once you have started your course.
