This AAT qualification focuses on building knowledge and skills in bookkeeping, as well as providing the opportunity to gain a recognised qualification within this area of work. It covers control accounts, journals, and reconcilliations, offering a comprehensive introduction to bookkeeping and the principles of bookkeeping controls. You will also gain proficiency in preparing value-added tax (VAT) control accounts, managing receivables and payable ledger accounts, as well as how to set up bookkeeping systems.
The course emphasises practical accounting skills, incuding double entry bookkeeping and the use of documents and processes. You wil also learn how to process customer and supplier transactions effectively, all of which supports your progression to work in industry employment or to improve current career prospects.

WHAT CAN I DO NEXT?
This AAT Level 2 qualification provides a platform to progress on to an AAT Level 3 Advanced Diploma in Accounting or on to industry employment opportunities as a clerical assistant, a trainee Bookkeeper, an accounts clerk, a finance assistant or an accounts administrator.
IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE I NEED TO KNOW?
You will be required to purchase course material, such as books, to supplement your learning. You will also need to register with the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) which may come at a cost, find out more about this here.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
All students are required to undertake an application assessment prior to enrolling to determine suitability for entry onto the programme.
Please note: Maths and English GCSE grade D or equivalent (Functional Skills Level 1) is essential.
