PLASTERING & DRY LINING - LEVEL 2

Level: Level 2

This Level 2 qualification in plastering is ideal for those looking to develop their skills in this trade area. You will gain an understanding of the skills and knowledge that is essential when you are working as a plasterer covering rendering, internal plastering, mouldings and partitioning systems.

WHAT WILL I LEARN?

  • Principles of construction
  • Internal plastering and fixing sheet materials
  • Applying external plain rendering
  • Floor screed systems
  • Direct bond, taping and jointing 
  • Producing, fixing and finishing plain plaster mouldings to match existing
  • Installing linings and encasement systems
  • Installing metal furring ceiling systems
  • Installing metal stud partitioning systems 

HOW WILL I BE TAUGHT?

You will be taught in the Construction Centre in a purpose built plastering workshop for practical activities. You will also be taught the underpinning knowledge in the classroom.

HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?

  • Theory exam (mandatory)
  • Assignments
  • In class tests
  • Practical synoptic exam (mandatory)
  • Employer Set Project (mandatory)

WHAT CAN I DO NEXT?

On successful completion of Level 2 you can seek employment as a plasterer or set up your own business.

IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE I NEED TO KNOW?

There are opportunities to demonstrate your skills and abilities through SkillBuild and other related competitions. You'll need your own stationery and personal protective equipment including safety boots and work clothing. All other tools and equipment are provided.

Additional Opportunities

Learners with a grade 4 in English and maths will also study an sustainability skills qualification.

Learners with a grade 4 in English or maths will study additional units in sustainabilty without gaining the full qualification.

Learners without a grade 4 in English or maths will study both subjects as part of their Study Programme.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

This course is progression only. You will need to have successfully completed the Level 1 course and have an interview with your course tutor.
