This course has been designed for those already working in the sector, looking to upskill with a higher level qualification.
It enables you to demonstrate and recognise your skills, knowledge and understanding against a series of National Occupational Standards, whilst also evidencing that your practical skills are supported by underpinning theory.
This qualification is supported by the Painting and Decorating Association (PDA).
WHAT WILL I LEARN?
As part of this course you will study a range of units, including both mandatory and optional topics.
Mandatory units consist of:
Erecting and Dismantling Access/Working Platforms in the Workplace
Conforming to General Health, Safety and Welfare in the Workplace
Confirming Work Activities and Resources for an Occupational Work Area in the Workplace
Developing and Maintaining Good Occupational Working Relationships in the Workplace
Confirming the Occupational Method of Work in the Workplace
Preparing surfaces for painting/decorating in the workplace
Applying Paint Systems to Complex Surfaces by Brush in the Workplace
You will also study two optional units.
HOW WILL I BE TAUGHT?
The course is site based but all applicants will be required to do a skills scan first, which will determine if you need to undertake any guided study, to develop additional skills. The skills scan is completed with an assessor and will form the basis of your learning, if needed.
HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?
This course has been designed for those already in employment and as a result you will be assessed against a set of performance and knowledge statements, which have been derived from National Occupational Standards for Painting and Decorating.
You will be assessed by an occupationally competent and qualified assessor whose job is to work with you and help you complete your qualification. You will also be required to produce a portfolio of evidence, highlighting how you have met the performance and knowledge criteria for each unit.
HOW MUCH WILL THIS COURSE COST?
If you are aged 24 or above, live in Lancashire and do not currently hold a full Level 3 qualification, this course will be free to study.
WHAT CAN I DO NEXT?
Upon completion of this qualification you will have obtained the skills, knowledge and understanding to progress on to a higher level qualification in the same or similar occupational area. Alternatively, you may wish to use the qualification to progress into supervisory and management positions within the workplace.
Industry will accept this qualification, on its own, as entry into a job role.
