The purpose of this programme is to enhance your knowledge and understanding of mental health conditions and the principles of mental health first aid and mental health advocacy in the workplace.
At its core, it will provide an introduction to all different types of mental ill health and crucially, the factors that may increase the risk of mental ill health in individuals. It will enable you to explore how to create a mentally healthy environment within your work setting and also support individuals with mental ill health, within the boundaries of your own role.
You will study a range of diverse and engaging modules, including:
You will be taught by highly experienced industry professionals, who will share their knowledge and experience of working in the sector with you. The course is delivered in a range of ways, including evening online study, evening classroom based study and daytime classroom based study.
You will be taught via interactive sessions and you will be required to participate in task assessments during delivery. Throughout the programme you will be required to complete a workbook for final submission.
On completion of this qualification you will have obtained the skills, knowledge and understanding to progress on to a higher level qualification in the same or similar occupational area. Alternatively, you may choose to study on another short course here at Preston College.
You must be able to demonstrate that you are working Level 1 or above in English and must have an interest in the subject.
