FABRICATION & WELDING

Duration: 12 months
Level: Level 2

This Apprenticeship will provide you with all the skills required to start a career in fabrication and welding. You will learn the principles of welding, allowing a broad skill set with the underpinning knowledge you need for a career in welding before specialising at Level 3.

WHAT WILL I LEARN?

Examples of study areas include:

  • Welding processes
  • MIG welding
  • TIG welding
  • MMA welding
  • Fabrication

HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?

There will be assessor visits to the workplace to observe your competency completing certain tasks. At college you will be assessed by written assignments and practical observations.

WHAT CAN I DO NEXT?

After completing Level 2, you may be able to progress onto the Level 3 Apprenticeship. Following this, you will have developed your knowledge and skills to work competently in the fabrication and welding industry.

IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE I NEED TO KNOW?

For workshop activities you will need to purchase suitable overalls and work boots. Level 2: 18 Months & Level 3: 42 Months*

*Course duration will depend on your existing qualifications and experience in the industry.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

All Apprenticeships require an initial assessment, interview and employment in the industry. For Level 3 progression, you will need a Level 2 qualification in the subject together with maths and English.
