This Level 2 qualification is designed to develop your bricklaying skills and advance your knowledge of the construction industry and building practices. There is also an employer set project with local firm John Turner Construction. This project will focus on sustainability and bring together the knowledge from your units of study and the skills you have developed throughout the course.

HOW WILL I BE TAUGHT?
You will be taught in the Construction Centre with practical areas for a range of brickwork activities. You will also be taught the underpinning knowledge in the classroom.

WHAT CAN I DO NEXT?
On successful completion of Level 2 you can seek employment as an Apprentice to complete your training. At Preston College a lot of our learners are recruited by employers from our Level 2 course into an Apprenticeship. The Level 3 Craft Bricklayer Apprenticeship is an ideal next step.
IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE I NEED TO KNOW?
There are opportunities to demonstrate your skills and abilities through SkillBuild and other related competitions. You'll need your own stationery and personal protective equipment including safety boots and work clothing. All other tools and equipment are provided.
Additional Opportunities
Learners with a grade 4 in English and maths will also study an sustainability skills qualification.
Learners with a grade 4 in English or maths will study additional units in sustainabilty without gaining the full qualification.
Learners without a grade 4 in English or maths will study both subjects as part of their Study Programme.
Qualification Title: City & Guilds - Level 2 Technical Certificate in Bricklaying

This course is progression only. You will need to have successfully completed the Level 1 course and have an interview with your course tutor.
