BARBERING - LEVEL 2 DIPLOMA (SEPT 2025 START)

The Level 2 Barbering Diploma is ideal for those looking to qualify as a professional barber in this highly exciting industry. Providing the skills and confidence needed to work both in a salon and freelance, the course covers ten modules, ranging from cutting and styling to health and safety and promotion.

Please note: This course starts in September 2025. You may apply now; however, applications will not be processed until enrolments open in April 2025. A course advisor will reach out once we can proceed with your application.

WHAT WILL I LEARN?

As a learner on the Level 2 Barbering Diploma, you will study:

  • Health & Safety practice in the salon
  • Working in the industry
  • Client consultation
  • Shampooing and conditioning hair and scalp
  • Cutting men’s hair
  • Cutting facial hair
  • Styling men’s hair
  • Creating an image
  • Promoting and displaying stock
  • The art of colour
  • Reception

HOW WILL I BE TAUGHT?

You will learn your craft in our on-site, industry standard Barbershop, furnished with 14 barbers chairs and bespoke work stations, where you will perfect your skills on paying customers! In order to advance your professional practice you will also work with models throughout your programme, for practice and assessment purposes. Models will be a mixture of Barbershop customers and also your friends and relatives.

As a Diploma learner you will also develop promotional material to generate a customer base.

You won’t be required to purchase a specific uniform but as our Barbershop reflects industry practice, you will be required to wear all-black whilst in the Barbershop.

HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?

You will build a portfolio based upon practical assessments and written work. You will have a number of written exams which are multiple choice and completed online. You will be encouraged to complete your practical skills on models.

IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE I NEED TO KNOW?

In order to develop your technical skills you will be required to purchase professional equipment. The college recognises that a financial outlay can be worrying to some but did you know that you may be entitled to financial support from the college bursary. Full details of required kit will be provided on your first day.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

You must have a keen interest in Barbering. No prior experience is required but candidates will be interviewed for this course. English GCSE (or equivalent) at grade 4 (C) or above is required.
