PAINTING & DECORATING - LEVEL 2

Duration: 1 year
Level: Level 2

On this Level 2 course you will continue to develop the practical skills and knowledge you learnt on your Level 1 course. You will be introduced to modern wall and ceiling decorating systems, modern and traditional techniques, materials and how to create a range of specialist quality finishes. 

WHAT WILL I LEARN?

  • Principles of construction
  • Access equipment
  • Preparation of surfaces for decoration
  • Application of surface coatings
  • Application of papers to walls and ceilings
  • Producing decorative colour effects

HOW WILL I BE TAUGHT?

You will be taught in the Construction Centre with practical areas for a range of painting and decorating activities. You will also be taught the underpinning knowledge in the classroom.

HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?

  • Theory exam (mandatory)
  • Assignments
  • In class tests
  • Practical synoptic exam (mandatory)
  • Employer Set Project (mandatory)

WHAT CAN I DO NEXT?

On successful completion of Level 2 you can seek employment or set up your own business. 

IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE I NEED TO KNOW?

There are opportunities to demonstrate your skills and abilities through SkillBuild and other related competitions. You'll need your own stationery and personal protective equipment including safety boots and work clothing. All other tools and equipment are provided.

Additional Opportunities

Learners with a grade 4 in English and maths will also study an sustainability skills qualification.

Learners with a grade 4 in English or maths will study additional units in sustainabilty without gaining the full qualification.

Learners without a grade 4 in English or maths will study both subjects as part of their Study Programme.

Qualification Title: City & Guilds - Level 2 Technical Certificate in Painting & Decorating

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

This course is progression only. You will need to have successfully completed the Level 1 course and have an interview with your course tutor.
