The NVQ Level 6 Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety has been designed for learners who wish to demonstrate and develop their skills and knowledge in managing health and safety for their workplace.
The qualification provides opportunities to develop and demonstrate knowledge of day-to-day health and safety procedures, alongside the ability to implement them correctly and effectively.
Upon completion of the course, you can be confident that the work you carry out is to industry standard. The NVQ Level 6 Diploma is an advanced qualification, and can act as a stepping stone into further postgraduate study, including masters-level degrees.
WHAT WILL I LEARN?
All units are mandatory and include:
601 Health and safety emergency procedures
602 Health and safety audits
603 A positive health and safety culture in an organisation
604 Organisational health and safety policy
605 Professional development and ethics in health and safety practice
606 Systems monitoring and risk control
607 Organisational health and safety strategy
HOW WILL I BE TAUGHT?
You will meet initially with your course tutor at the college for guidance and materials.
Going forward regular review online meetings will be scheduled as well as planned workplace observation assessments of your performance.
HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?
Assessment for the NVQ Level 6 Health and Safety Diploma is by the production of a personal portfolio demonstrating understanding and application of the standards at this level.
We use the OneFile system where your evidence is electronically submitted.
WHAT CAN I DO NEXT?
This qualification allows candidates to progress into employment, higher education, management qualifications or onto additional qualifications offered by IOSH and/or NEBOSH.
IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE I NEED TO KNOW?
This is a higher qualification and is equivalent to a full bachelor’s degree and the NEOBSH National Diploma. Upon completion of the course you will:
Achieve a nationally recognised accredited NVQ
Hold a high-level qualification
Work to industry standards
Progress as a Health & Safety Practitioner
Be able to apply for Graduate Membership of IOSH
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
To undertake this course you will need to report to or be part of the senior management team or have management support. You should be aware of cost implications and budgetary controls and maybe a budget holder.
Real-life evidence from your workplace is necessary and ideally, you will have several years’ experience in your role.
