The Level 2 Nail Technology Certificate provides opportunities for those already working with clients to expand their nail treatment offer, as well as for those at the start of their career. You'll study the art of gel, acrylics, fibreglass, tips and overlays as well as nail art, allowing you to individually tailor each client's experience.
As part of the Level 2 Nail Technology course you will study a range of modules, allowing you to perfect your skills in the following:
As a nail technology learner at Preston’s College, you will perfect your skills in our on-site bespoke salon, Elements. The salon is home to a fully furnished beauty salon containing 11 treatment beds, nail room, a hair salon and demonstration workshops, where you will perfect your skills on both fellow learners and training hands.
This is a highly practical course, meaning you will spend most of your time undertaking practical work but there is theory behind the practical, which will be studied and assessed. Whiteboards and video demonstrations will be used, to showcase the latest techniques and styles and each learner is required to have at least one practice model, at various stages of the course.
This is an evening study course, exploring all types of nail technology, including gel, acrylic and fibreglass, alongside nail art.
As our on-site facilities reflect industry working practices, you will be required to wear all black whilst in the nail salon, or, if you are already working in industry and have a uniform, you can wear your salon uniform.
You will be assessed through assignments, exams and practical observations. You will need to provide at least three models to receive a full set of nails as part of your practical observations. To achieve the qualification you will need to complete and pass five exams at a minimum pass rate of 70%, and pass two set assignments. There are also a further 9 formal practical observations.
You will be required to wear all black clothing whilst working in the salon environment.
Whilst formal English qualifications are not required for direct entry on to this programme, you will need proficient English skills that will enable you to fully participate in all aspects of your learning and successfully achieve your qualification.
Your level of English skills will be assessed during the application process and will be determined by any previously obtained qualifications or via an English assessment, where appropriate, where you will need to be working at Level 2 standard.
In order to engage in the guided on-line learning components of your programme and to undertake modular assessments, the development of your digital skills will be at the core of our delivery and embedded throughout your full programme of study.
In addition, you will need access to a digital device. If these are not available to you at home, you are able to use the college facilities.
