MAP01 THE CONSTRUCTION ENVIRONMENT AND DIGITAL INNOVATION

Duration: 12 weeks
Level: Level 4
Last Updated: 02-07-24

MAP01 The Construction Environment and Digital Innovation module, delivered as part of the Modular Acceleration Programme (MAP) pilot, is designed to provide additional construction industry training and education, while equipping you with employable skills that can be immediately applied in the sector. Furthermore, this MAP module offers the flexibility to complete a single module over 12 weeks, allowing you to upskill and earn valuable credits without committing to a full qualification straight away.

This module explores the history of the industry, professional roles and ethics, sustainability strategies, diversity and inclusion, and routes to employment and career progression. You will also gain insights into the challenges and opportunities the industry faces and the impact of the latest digital innovations on the sector.

Alongside this industry context, the course provides an in-depth look at industry-standard Building Information Modelling (BIM) software - the process of creating and managing digital representations of physical buildings. You will gain hands-on experience on how to model construction elements, generate 2D and 3D views, and assemble key project information.

This MAP module is derived from to the HNC Construction Management for England (HTQ) which aligns with the knowledge, skills, and behaviours required for specific job roles according to the relevant Occupational Standards. It is also recognised as an Institute of Technology (IoT) course, with a particular emphasis on enhancing digital literacy within the construction sector.
