CONSTRUCTION SENIOR MANAGEMENT - LEVEL 7 NVQ DIPLOMA

Duration: Three to 12 months
Level: Level 7

The Level 7 NVQ Diploma is ideal for current construction workers who wish to further their knowledge and skills.

The qualification allows senior construction staff to gain a nationally recognised qualification, assessed against National Occupational Standards.

This qualification enables you, to demonstrate and recognise your skills, knowledge and understanding in a real workplace environment so you can confidently work within some of the highest positions within the Construction industry.

Completion of the course will provide you not only with a qualification which is widely recognised by industry, but also the ability, upon successful completion, to apply for a Black CSCS card.

WHAT WILL I LEARN?

You will learn key practical skills and knowledge in a range of mandatory units.

There are ten mandatory units in Group A and two pathways - Production and Commercial. You must complete the selected pathway mandatory unit and the required number of credits from the selected group of pathway optional units. The minimum total credit value of the qualification is 184 credits for the Production pathway and 179 credits for the Commercial pathway.

Mandatory and optional units include:

• Manage teams in construction
• Lead and participate in meetings in construction management
• Provide ethical advice judgment and service in construction management
• Prepare and agree a project brief and development programme in construction
• Manage design development and processes in construction
• Assess and evaluate the environmental impact of developments in construction management
• Evaluate sustainable resources and requirements in construction management
• Manage marketing and customer service in construction organisations
• Establish project procurement arrangements in construction management
• Examine staff turnover issues and recruit staff in a cleaning environment
• Implement strategic sourcing partnerships in construction management
• Manage procurement processes in construction management
• Prepare and submit estimates bids and tenders in construction management
• Ensure that contracts are prepared negotiated and concluded in construction management
• Control organisational and project income and expenditure in construction management
• Manage project risks and opportunities in construction
• Manage project evaluation and feedback in construction
• Control project outcomes in construction management
• Evaluate and progress the resolution of disputes in construction management
• Manage project completion in construction
• Self and others in construction management

HOW WILL I BE TAUGHT?

The course involves classroom tuition and workshops if required but is primarily delivered via our online learning platform. You will receive support from industry experts to help you meet the requirements of the NVQ.

HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?

As you are required to be in employment, the most common way to achieve your NVQ is via the On Site Assessment and Training (OSAT), which involves a Preston College Work Based Tutor collecting evidence of a candidate’s skills and knowledge, in the workplace.

WHAT CAN I DO NEXT?

Upon completion of this qualification you will have obtained the skills, knowledge and understanding and demonstrated competence to progress on to a higher level qualification in the same or similar occupational area or to confidently enter progress within employment.

Industry will accept the qualification on its own as entry to a job role.

IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE I NEED TO KNOW?

You will need to provide your own safety boots and clothing from the start of course.

You will also require a valid Managerial and Professional (MAP) CSCS Health and Safety test, to allow you to obtain the full NVQ Diploma and CSCS card. If you do not have one, or passed your test more than five years ago, please visit: www.cscs.uk.com.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

The Level 7 is ideal for those working in a policy-making, Director or Senior Management capacity.

You must currently be employed in a managerial capacity, where you manage and supervise staff.
