Barratt Homes makes donation of bricks to Preston College

Barratt Homes has made a donation of bricks to Preston College to support its bricklaying courses and apprenticeships, aiding the next generation of house builders.

Close to the developer’s Centurion Village on Longmeanygate, the College has received 2,000 bricks from the development that will used in our bricklaying classes and workshops.

Preston College has bricklaying courses and apprenticeships available at levels one to three, with each level taking one year of study to complete. On the course, students will learn the importance of safe working practices, how to assemble a range of structures and will gain knowledge of materials, equipment and industry standard techniques.

Simon Book, Curriculum Leader at Preston College, says: “On behalf of Preston College I would like to thank Barratt Homes for this generous donation of bricks. Having material like this means that our learners can use then to develop industry skills and receive high quality technical education.”

Rhys Nicholson, Managing Director at Barratt Homes Manchester, says: “It is extremely important that we encourage and assist the next generation of house builders and construction workers in any way we can.

“We hope that by donating these bricks to Preston College, its pupils will be able to further their abilities through practical lessons, and hopefully one day we may be able to welcome some of the college alumni into our site teams.”

The social value and community benefit of this kind donation is hugely impactful and enables Preston College to continue to train and develop our learners to ensure that they are work-ready upon completion of their courses
