From Performing Arts to Mental Health Nursing – A Journey of Growth and Gratitude

Angie

I’m thrilled to share my story, especially if it can help others. Preston College played such a significant role in my life.

My journey at Preston College spanned four years, and those years were transformative. Coming from a difficult school experience, I found myself in an environment where I could thrive. The Performing Arts course boosted my confidence and helped me believe in myself again. Beyond that, the support I received allowed me to gain my Level 2 English and basic maths qualifications – this is something I truly needed to move forward in life.

One of the key factors in my success was the incredible teaching staff at Preston College. All my tutors throughout those four years were amazing – they were not only dedicated to helping me grow academically but also supported me on a personal level. Their encouragement made a huge difference in my confidence and helped me stay focused, even when things were tough.

Fast forward to today, and I’ve been qualified as a mental health nurse for a year. It’s a job I absolutely love, and every day feels rewarding. I’m passionate about sharing my story because I know what it’s like to have a rough start, and I hope it inspires others who may be in a similar situation to keep pushing forward.

Preston College wasn’t just a place for academic growth – it was a support system during a challenging time in my life. My mum was struggling with her own mental health, and we faced financial hardships, but the College was there for me. Their support went beyond the classroom, and for that, I’m incredibly grateful.

On top of all this, some of my closest friends are those I met during my time at Preston College. Looking back, I owe a lot to those four years, and I’ll always be thankful for the opportunities, friendships, and the foundation it gave me to succeed.
Preston College really did transform my life through education.
