Maths is an important life skill and crops up every day in bills, shopping, wages, homework, budgeting, banking and even cooking! At Preston College we understand that not everyone has had a positive relationship with maths – that’s why our team of friendly and supportive tutors have designed a range of FREE informal taster sessions to help you build your maths confidence.
Each session lasts for 60 minutes and will help you develop your maths skills through practical hands-on learning. With a range of topics on offer, you’ll learn how to use maths in a variety of ways. You can choose to study one session, a mixture or all of them. Plus, you’ll receive a FREE maths kit and scientific calculator for registering, which you’ll get at your first session.

Whether you’re looking to add up spending totals, track spending habits, or general calculating without a calculator! This 60 minute session will provide you with the first stepping stones onto mastering maths and becoming confident with all things numbers.

Whether you’re wanting to work out how much money was spent on a recent shopping spree, calculate the time left on a task, or workout change from a £10 note. This 60 minute session will provide you with the first stepping stones onto mastering maths and becoming confident with all things numbers.

Maybe you have an exciting trip abroad and need to calculate the exchange rates, or a DIY project that you need to work out how many boxes of tiles you need, or even a party this weekend and you need to triple your cake recipe! This session will support and provide you with the essential skills you need.

Division is used in daily life more than you think. When its time to split the bill after a group dinner, budgeting for the weeks or months ahead, and even sharing out sweet treats equally.
This session will support and provide you with the essential skills you need.

Fractions are used in cooking, working out how much of an ingredient to use, in telling the time and measuring. All things that we all use daily and are essential skills. This 60 minute session will provide you with the first stepping stones onto mastering maths and becoming confident with all things numbers.

Whether you want to quickly workout a discount on a piece of clothing, work out and better understand your pay slips, or calculate growth and inflation rates. This session will support and provide you with the essential skills you need to accomplish these.

Ratios are used when mixing things like paint, mortar or milk in a recipe. They are even used when splitting a cake equally between a group of people. This 60 minute session will provide you with the knowledge to mastering maths and becoming confident with all things numbers.
