Preston’s College Secures Funding for Brand New Construction Facilities in Readiness for T-Levels

We are delighted to announce that Preston’s College has secured funding as part of the Government’s Department for Education T-Level capital investment programme, in order to further develop our Construction facilities and equipment in readiness for the introduction of the Professional Construction T-Level in September 2021.

This exciting development of our current Construction building will ensure that learners have access to the latest technology and equipment, combined with high-specification industry-standard facilities. The college is confident that this development will support our industry-trained staff to further advance the delivery of high quality technical learning in Construction.

From September 2021 the college will be offering the T-Level in Professional Construction; Construction Surveying and Design. This programme has been co-developed with key employer stakeholders, and will enable our learners to benefit from new learning environments  focusing on digital integration and application in surveying and design disciplines.

Preston’s College has positively responded to local infrastructure investment and activity over the last four years, expanding the curriculum to meet the needs of the Lancashire Construction industry. We continue to work with a range of employer partners in ensuring a sufficient pipeline of professionally qualified technical individuals, ready to enter, or to advance in the world of work.

Lis Smith, Principal and Chief Executive says: “This is a significant advancement for our construction department and one we are all very excited to be a part of. The introduction of T-Levels this year brings with it many opportunities for the young people of our region, and with this landmark development, we are able to offer our learners the very best in industry standard facilities and equipment.”

Mark Taylor, Head of School for Construction and the Built Environment adds, “Preston’s College will continue to re-invest and innovate in curriculum delivery, and over the next two academic years, we will introduce T-Levels in Building Services Engineering and On-Site Construction. Our ethos and mission is to ensure our learners are ‘the most employable that they can be.”

Frank Whittle Partnership (@FWPGRoup), an award winning architectural and multi-disciplinary design practice based in Preston, will be leading the improvements to the building, with an artist’s impression of the proposed exterior.
