HEAR IT FROMTHE APPRENTICES! We recently caught up with a group of apprentices who are currently working towards their accounting apprenticeship at MHA Moore and Smalley; a leading independent provider of accounting, business advisory and wealthmanagement services. Anna Berry, Gemma McKie, Benjamin Harrison, Leah Rigby and William Joyce who all recently joined the firm at the Preston office, met with Preston’s College to talk about their experiences as an apprentice and what they hope to achieve upon completion. PC: Thank you for meeting with us today! ALL: Hello! PC: You’re all completing an apprenticeship at the moment which is wonderful to hear and it’s great that you get to work with such a leading employer in their industry. Are you enjoying it? GM: 100%. The support has been great. I work around some of the most fantastic people. I was given a buddy who is completing the level three currently and is a superb help when I need some extra help or guidance. BH: I would completely agree. Moore and Smalley have given us a fantastic opportunity and have certainly helped me on a day to day basis. AB: It’s been such a great opportunity. I have no regrets at all. PC: That’s brilliant to hear as I think a lot of people are unsure about apprenticeships and sometimes discount them. Why did you choose an apprenticeship? AB: For me it was a more tailored course that I felt would get me to where I wanted to be on the career ladder. WJ: For me it was the preferable route into accountancy. 18
