16 Graham Cann Photography Learners from our Adult Theatrical Media Make-Up course attended the United MakeUp Artists Expo at the Hilton in Liverpool. Organisations across the globe including Los Angeles, Europe, and from all over the UK visited the exhibition to share their knowledge and help kickstart or enhance careers in the Make-Up, Hair & Special Effects Industries. Jane Tudor, Head of School for Visual Performing Arts and Digital says: “Our Level 4 Make-Up learner, Melanie Thomas, entered her first competition at the UMAE exhibition. She entered the Warpaint character competition under the theme ‘House of Dragon’ whick is judged by industry professionals - and she WON!” Jane continues: “It was fantastic to see Preston College make its mark by exhibiting, promoting our courses and entering the competition as a key specialist provider of these much needed industry skills. “Judges were impressed by Melanie’s creativity, skill and the prosthetic pieces she sculpted and casted, but also by her technical skills on the day by thinking on her feet. “Melanie is new to make-up and her determination, hard work and creativity does us proud.” Preston College showcased learners across both Level 2 and 3 who entered the competition which had over 90 competitors across five categories.
