Frank Whittle Partnership Frank Whittle Partnership has exceeded all of our expectations in the design and architecture of the new Construction Skills Centre, together with the execution from Carefoot PLC. Tracey Whalley, Practice Manager at Frank Whittle Partnership (FWP) says in relation to sponsoring a learner: “There was no question at all that we wanted to sponsor a scholarship learner. The construction industry today presents such a diverse curriculum, with plentiful pathways and future career prospects for learners to aspire to work in. We all too often have the misconception that construction is simply groundwork and bricklaying, but there is a vast range of career opportunities to explore including quality surveying, digital engineering, design and build technician and site supervising. We know that by sponsoring a learner that it will open up so many doors.” Zac Wilkinson (right), Assistant Head of Construction and the Built Environment at Preston College says: “To a learner, being sponsored by an organisation like FWP, offers so many benefits. Not only have they been selected, which in itself is a real credit to them, but it will enhance their knowledge and their practical skills through the delivery of experiential learning. It opens up so many employment opportunities through this collaboration and simply having this on their CV will give them good grounding for conversations for future interviews for employment or university. We are really proud to be working with FWP.” Debbie Ireland, Head of Curriculum 14-19 says: “We selected Miles for this sponsorship as he is a real credit to the scholarship programme. He understands all the fundamentals of the course and is motivated and quietly ambitious. He’s currently working on the Town Fund project and is really flourishing in all aspects of his work.” Miles says: “I’m really interested in the interior side of construction and would like to specialise in workplace design, refurbishment, fit-out, design and build. I am interested in the production of design solutions including drawings and schedules. By having the opportunity to be sponsored by FWP who has designed the improvements to our Construction Skills Centre is a real privilege and I’m looking forward to where this leads me in my future career.” 09
