Lancashire Fire & Rescue Hosts ‘Have a Go’ Event at Preston College Lancashire Fire & Rescue hosted a ‘Have a Go’ day at Preston College. Joe Rodwell-Grant from Preston North End attended and took part in the fire kit challenge against one of their firefighters. The day comprised of a number of activities, including: > Bleep test > Equipment carry > Dummy drag > Confined space appreciation > SHL appreciation Liam Wilson, Group Manager at Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service said: “As part of our Positive Action recruitment campaign we undertook a consultation which included looking at the demographics of Lancashire and where we could best engage with underrepresented communities. Our consultation identified Preston as an area of focus, and as we have a long-standing relationship with Preston College, we approached them to facilitate one of our ‘Have a Go’ events. Their state-of-the-art training facilities and helpful staff proactively engaged with us and helped to make the experience very worthwhile. During the event we had the pleasure of being joined by Joe Rodwell-Grant from Preston North End who participated in some of our activities, something I’m sure, he thoroughly enjoyed. All in all, the event was a complete success!” If like Joe, you would like to have a go, please visit their website for all the details: lancsfirerescue.org.uk/have-a-go/ 37
