ACCESS TO HIGHER EDUCATION DIPLOMAS AT PRESTON COLLEGE If you would like to study at higher education level but don’t currently hold the qualifications required for entry, a one year Access to Higher Education Diploma could offer the perfect stepping stone onto undergraduate study. These advanced level courses are Level 3 qualifications, accepted by a wide range of universities. During your time on an Access to Higher Education course, you will develop the academic skills, alongside the subject knowledge and confidence needed for study at undergraduate level. If you successfully complete your access course and progress onto a recognised higher education course and successfully complete and achieve that course, Student Finance England will ‘write off’ any outstanding Advanced Learner Loan balance you owe for your Access to Higher Education Diploma, meaning that the loan you borrowed to complete the Access course doesn’t have to be paid back. Exploring his options, Jack discovered the Access to Higher Education: Science course at Preston College, a programme which would provide a stepping stone to BSc (Hons) study. Jack is enjoying his course, and credit the course with providing both the skills and knowledge needed to allow him to confidently move on to his chosen degree. 35
