MEET THE TEAM Hi, I’m Kayleigh. I’m a recent Dance Performance and Teaching graduate with a passion for the Arts! This world of work can open up so many doors and I am passionate about how we can help young creatives fully equip themselves with the skills needed to excel in their chosen career. So whether learners start in film and photography, digital media or art and design, we know that the offer and inclusion of work experience is hugely valuable for future career prospects. I work closely with employers such as The Larder, Integrate and the University of Central Lancashire who provide industry placement opportunities for our learners looking to enhance their skills and ensuring these are specific to each of their career goals. My name is Kirstie and I’m an Industry Placement Officer at Preston College. I have almost 20 years’ experience working in teaching, careers and job brokerage and have a real passion for helping young people to access the best opportunities that will add value to their lives and open up doors to their future. Every day is different, meeting new employers; working with long-standing partners; and getting to see our students flourish. I would invite any employer thinking of working with us to offer industry placements, to come in and get a ‘feel’ for who we are. There’s lots to be proud of and we really are growing the next generation of talent across our region. I work specifically with our departments across science, construction, business and accountancy and work with employers like The Eric Wright Group, Royal Sanders and Frank Whittle Partnership. Whether your business is big or small, we can help to match the right student to your needs as an organisation and be there to support from start to finish. Industry Placements allow students to develop their confidence; gain valuable employability skills; and apply the technical knowledge and skills that they’ve learned at college, while learning from leading industry experts. My name is Claire, I currently cover the Engineering, Aeronautical and Automotive areas; working with the learners to achieve a sustainable and worthwhile placement with employers that is relevant to their college course. I work closely with all the learners and often find solutions to overcome any barriers to become successful in their placement. I build confidence and relationships with all the employers I work with. I take the time to understand their business needs and how our learners could benefit their organisation through industry placements. Meeting with employers in their working environment and understanding their working day enables me to relate this back to the learner and sell them the vision and opportunities available. The business will see or hear from me regularly, as I continue to support them throughout the industry placement. Employers I am proud to work with include: Westair Flying Services, The Bowker Motor Group, Cam Tech, David Ball Motors, Skoda Bolton, Merlin Diesel, Bill House Sheet Metal and Edwards Wrought Iron. 19
