SEND TEAM (SPECIAL EDUCATIONAL NEEDS AND DISABILITY SUPPORT) Preston College adopts an inclusive approach to learning, offering high quality teaching to all, which takes into account individual requirements. Reasonable adjustments are embedded within the classroom, to ensure that those learners with an identified need can fully access the curriculum and the associated assessment processes. It is recognised that some learners may also need additional support and this will be provided by the Curriculum and Learner Support Team. The focus of support is to remove barriers to learning and develop strategies. Naturally, support needs differ from individual to individual but may include the provision of exam access arrangements, assistive technology, learning support coaches/assistants and communication support workers. FACILITIES At Preston College, we have a range of outstanding facilities across all of our courses, including an industry standard Construction Centre, 100 seater theatre and state-of-the-art iSTEM Centre – home to an array of course specific facilities, including purpose built engineering workshops, subsonic wind tunnels and full equipped science laboratories. The wider campus also has the added benefit of an on-site fitness centre, barbering and beauty salons, all of which are available to learners, at heavily discounted prices! LEARNING ZONE Our learning zone team are always on hand to help you access the resources, services and support needed to develop your own independent study and research skills. Offering a huge range of workshops, supporting you in developing Harvard referencing, assignment writing and critical analysis, the Learning Zone is situated near the main reception. The Learning Zone also has group and individual study rooms for those working on group activities and presentations, alongside areas reserved exclusively for those adults studying on Higher Education courses with us. QUALIFIED CAREERS ADVISERS If you require more in-depth careers advice, our expert advisers are knowledgeable, enthusiastic and able to provide comprehensive, independent careers advice and guidance. Their aim is to empower you to make your own career and learning choices by providing you with the information, advice and guidance you need to make an informed decision about your next steps. STUDENT SERVICES Our Student Services team are available to support all of our adult learners through the provision of a wealth of information on a variety of topics, including financial support, welfare advice, benefits advice, counselling and mental health support, safeguarding and bursary information. The Student Services team are accessible to all learners and once you are on the campus, can be found in the Main Building.
