iTunes U @ Preston College

Preston College has become the first further education institution in England to have a presence on Apple’s mobile virtual learning environment, iTunes U.

What is iTunes U?

iTunes U works in the same way as the itunes store on itunes except instead of offering you the chance to download music to your ipod, you can download (or view on your computer) educational resources such as tutorials & guides. For those of you who have an ipod, you will be familiar with itunes but if you are unsure, please contact the E ‐Learning Development Team for more information on itunes.

iTunesU is popular with universities in America where it has been used by institutions such as MIT, Princeton and Harvard but popularity has grown in the UK with both Oxford and Cambridge universities and the Open University all getting involved.

What do I need to view Preston Colleges' iTunes U site?

To visit our iTunes U site, you firstly need to download Apples popular software iTunes. To do this simply follow this link: iTunes Download.

Once iTunes is successfully installed you can click on the "Visit us on iTunes U" button either at the top of this page or below.

The College, which is an ‘Apple Accredited Training Provider’, launched its site with the help of ‘good luck’ video messages from stars such as Britain’s Got Talent winner George Sampson, and ex-Atomic Kitten singer Liz McLarnon, all filmed by media students during a recent Children in Need show in Blackpool.

The launch of the iTunes U site ties in with a host of recent e-learning developments at the College including a website revamp and the creation of ‘Apps’ for the iPhone to allow more interactive teaching methods.
