The MOST Spring/Summer 2021

We were delighted to have received so many nominations this year. Here are the supporting nominations to accompany the required criteria: Leyland Trucks: As always an extremely focused approach from Leyland Trucks. They have followed all guidelines, made adjustments for their staff/our learners to ensure business and apprenticeship training continuity. With such a large company they are bound by rules and regulations with regards to apprenticeship programmes and have worked closely with the college to transition over to apprenticeship standards for 20/21. They have offered new pathways for learners, new opportunities for the college and continued support with supplying resources to the college. Most recently having received a chassis training rig for our working environment. Hair by Clare Ashton: Clare and her team are very supportive of the apprentices, they provide lots of training and guidance and fully the support the apprenticeship programme. They go out of the their way to nurture the apprentices to be the best they can be. Eric Wright Group: The Eric Wright Group have proactively support the college and engaged in education and skills, in terms of industry placements and apprenticeship opportunities. The Eric Wright Group have shared passion and values. The invaluable sponsorship and partnership to deliver the Eric Wright Learning Foundation enables young secondary school leaders to engage in construction education, and also in the curriculum design and involvement across all levels. They are an organisation with social value and community at the heart of all they do. Lancashire Constabulary: They support apprentices in all different sectors and qualification subject areas. They complete training and mentoring to a high level and allow the apprentice to develop skills and knowledge in their job role for them to gain employment within the force and progress up the career ladder. They have time in the workplace to complete the 20% off the job training and the mentor is someone that they can always rely upon for support and guidance. Premier Hose Technologies: This company had to manage their staffing extremely closely due to Covid 19. As a business they took the decision to not send their apprentices to college to prevent potential increased risk and to ensure they had a workforce available to keep the company functioning. While this might sound drastic to us and almost counterproductive to the apprenticeship, the managers engaged with us in remote learning, allowed the students to access PCs to carry on working on their college work on the day of their learning without interruption and had good contact with the college | 20 Apprenticeship Specialist Habib Shama (left) and Head of School Mark Taylor (right) award Leyland Trucks with the Exceptional Employer Award 2021.
